LEO ABRAHAMS
Scene Memory 2 (FigureEight)
Scene Memory 2 is the follow-up to Leo Abrahams’ jagged ambient debut Scene Memory, released in 2006 – although the producer and musician has gathered many projects under his belt in between. As well as working with Grace Jones, Paul Simon and David Byrne, Abrahams has hooked up with David Holmes to score films as well as collaborating with Brian Eno on the Small Craft On A Milk Sea album that Warp released to acclaim in 2010.
Indeed, those that devour Eno’s back catalogue should look out for Scene Memory 2, which is the sound of Abrahams unconventionally pushing his guitar sounds through studio technology until they become barely recognisable and somewhat otherworldly. From the glitchy opener Harm Organ to the Kraftwerk-taking-on-Morricone vibe of Outpost, Scene Memory 2 is an adventurously made selection of effective instrumental soundscapes from Leo Abrahams, racked in a hypnotic kind of spellbinding beauty.
