THE ZUTONS
The Big Decider (Icepop)
After a decade’s worth of trials, tribulations, turbulence and transformations, you’d be forgiven for writing off The Zutons’ Dave McCabe as yet another brilliant creative mind sadly swept away by the currents of life in the spotlight. Thankfully, this story took a different, and much more positive turn. After McCabe’s post-pandemic stint in rehab, his band made their long-awaited return to the studio under the watchful eye of producer Nile Rodgers; The Big Decider is the result of this unexpected alliance, and showcases The Zutons at their best.
McCabe’s timeless rock vocal sits atop a band reinvigorated: from excellent lead single Creeping On The Dancefloor to the uplifting title track, The Big Decider is an album chocked full of timeless, feel-good indie-pop. It’s great to see The Zutons thriving once again, as they remind us all it’s never too late to recapture the magic of yesteryear.
