BC CAMPLIGHT
The Last Rotation Of Earth (Bella Union)
Brian ‘BC Camplight’ Christinzio is no stranger to traumatic experiences. Following years battling addiction and mental health issues, his longterm relationship crumbled; alone in his adopted home of Manchester, the Philadelphian wondered where life would take him next.
Out of those ashes rises The Last Rotation Of Earth: a breakup album like no other, and despite the subject matter, no drag. Christinzio tows the line between humorous self-pity and cautious appreciation of what remains – I found myself chuckling plenty of times throughout, owing to his uncanny knack of making mundane scenarios hilarious. Littered with relatable inner thoughts and references to terrible daytime TV, TLROE made me feel like I had popped round to BC Camplight’s house with beer and pizza, to help a friend through his tough time.
Furthermore, songwriting, arranging and delivery is at the highest level here. Christinzio captivates the ear, the heart, and the mind from start to finish with yet another work of sublime quality.
