It’s been a week since indie group The Lathums released their new album From Nothing To A Little Bit More, so the crowd at Cardiff’s Great Hall were expecting great things from these new chart-toppers – and they weren’t disappointed with this live performance. Only having two album releases under their belt, the Wigan band’s set was shorter than other groups I’ve seen recently, but it was very well-curated and appealed to the audience with ease.
The Lathums opened with Say My Name, the explosive hit that also kicked off their support set on Kasabian’s 2022 tour. One of the FNTALBM singles, it was the perfect choice to kick off their gig with. The vocal talent of frontman Alex Moore was on full display as the group performed I See Your Ghost from 2021 debut album How Beautiful Life Can Be, hitting incredibly high notes that pleasantly shocked everyone in the room. Another popular choice from their 2021 album, Fight On, was absolutely adored by the audience and had everybody singing along.

With the crowd chanting “UK Number 1!” to the tune of Give It Up as the band took a moment to swap out their guitars, it was clear The Lathums’ album release was very well-received by their fans, which heightened the energy in the room as the band continued their live set. The Great Escape also proved popular, spiking the excitement of the crowd; this was juxtaposed with slow acoustic number All My Life, performed with a disco ball lighting up the room.
The Lathums closed their set with FNTALBM gem Sad Face Baby, which was a brilliant choice with which to conclude a great gig. I can’t wait to see what The Lathums do next, but Cardiff is sure to welcome the band back with open arms.
