THE LATHUMS
From Nothing To A Little Bit More (Island)
The Lathums are still relatively new on the scene, only having released their debut album in 2021, but this release reinforces the undeniable talent of the group who are a staple on many festival lineups this summer.
The Wigan band released a few tracks from second album From Nothing To A Little Bit More last year, like Say My Name and Sad Face Baby – the former also opening their set while supporting Kasabian on tour. Alex Moore’s vocal prowess is in full force on From Nothing To A Little Bit More, and his beautiful lyrics are effectively juxtaposed with the upbeat nature of these tracks.
Towards the end of the album, the music begins to slow down and lament. The aptly-named Turmoil provides a slow, ballad-esque feeling that perfectly contrasts the preceding songs, and Undeserving, the concluding track, is eight minutes of gorgeous lyricism that invites the listener to reflect.
No surprise that The Lathums rose to success so quickly: after having the opportunity to hear some of the tracks live, you won’t want to miss out on their tour either.
