SAM FENDER
Live From Finsbury Park (Polydor)
Sam Fender has had a spectacular year. Hot off the heels of a standout Glastonbury performance, he headed straight into his biggest headline show to date, a sold-out crowd at London’s Finsbury Park. So, it’s really no surprise that Live From Finsbury Park would be his next offering – memorialising a stratospheric point in his festival season, if not his musical career.
Spanning both Fender’s number one albums, it’s an impressive lineup of energetic extended guitar solos, as showcased in Howdon Aldi Death Queue, to the lush saxophone-driven ballads like Dying Light. Of course, there are plenty of singalongs too, with the 45,000-strong crowd providing help on Saturday, Seventeen Going Under, and the Hypersonic Missiles chant that can be heard fading off into the night.
Live From Finsbury Park is an excellent souvenir for those who can proudly claim to have been there – as well as the perfect salve for those who missed out.
