LIAM GALLAGHER
Knebworth 22 (Warner)
Back to the scene of the crime, so to speak, for Liam Gallagher on Knebworth 22: it’s 27 years this month since Oasis’ iconic shows there, and last summer Liam Gallagher headlined the venue in his own right. From the get-go of Hello, Gallagher has the crowd in the palms of his hands and keeps his banterous back-and-forth going throughout this 16-song set.
Solo hit Wall Of Glass sounds as good live as on record, but the setlist is sodden with Oasis hits, with Rock ‘N‘ Roll Star, Slide Away and Roll It Over going down a storm. Knebworth 22’s last five tracks – Cigarettes & Alcohol, Some Might Say, Supersonic, Wonderwall and Champagne Supernova must’ve been enough to give any Oasis fan a heart attack.
“Biblical” in the words of Gallagher himself. Hearing all these tracks live, you can’t help but think there’s surely a moment in time soon reserved for that reunion…
