CIRCA WAVES
Never Going Under (Lower Third)
Liverpool indie-rock band Circa Waves are bringing in the new year with a great new release, Never Going Under. Opening with the album’s title track, it’s slightly heavier than the band’s other material while remaining archetypal indie-rock that packs the punch needed for such an introduction.
This is followed by Do You Wanna Talk, one of the Never Going Under’s singles, and one sure to be a favourite – it takes you right back to when indie was at its peak. As the album progresses, the songs are consistently light-hearted and upbeat, with Northern Town being one of my favourites due to its thoughtful and resonating lyrics about one’s hometown.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see these tracks lighting up festivals across the UK this summer. Each track on Never Going Under is well-written and well-performed, with something for every listener; one for indie kids, undeniably, yet suitable for anyone that wants to put on a chilled album.
