BLACK STONE CHERRY
Screamin’ At The Sky (Mascot)
It may sound like an oxymoron to describe Kentucky’s hardest rock band as easy listening, but Screamin’ At The Sky is surprisingly mellow. Black Stone Cherry have always had a softer side and this album, like its predecessors, presses emotional buttons lyrically and musically. The title track, a song about healing, opens with a wallop of drums and bass and sets the stage for the rest of the album.
BSC songs are all about the human condition, love and loss, hurt, resilience and finding yourself; lead vocalist Chris Robertson’s exploration of relationships continues with tracks such as The Mess You Made and Raindrops On A Rose, with its familiar-sounding chorus beat. But after all the tearjerking the album ends on a positive note with You Can Have It All. With their relatable lyrics and emotive guitar riffs, Black Stone Cherry are masters at hooking the listener and keeping them listening.
