COREY TAYLOR
CMF2 (Decibel Cooper)
“My first solo album was kind of where I was coming from. This album is more where we’re going.” Once again, Corey Taylor gets to creatively explore his own personal endeavours and experimentations in his own right, this time on latest album CMF2. Pigeonholed to many, I’m sure as the lead vocalist of Slipknot, Taylor is front and centre here, and stripped right back in parts, making for a diverse mix of styles from someone who, for all his success, remains underrated as a singer-songwriter.
The musical expression on lead single Beyond wraps up a nigh-on 17-year journey since the track was first penned in its original guise, while the country vibe to Breath Of Fresh Smoke sounds anthemic. The poignant Someday I’ll Change Your Mind is worlds away musically from what Taylor is most recognised for, but his vocal works – as does this whole collection. There’s something for everyone from Taylor on CMF2.
