WALES CLIMATE ACTION DAY: PEDAL FOR THE PLANET | EVENT PREVIEW
Making sure Wales’ voice is heard ahead of the United Nation’s climate change talks in Paris next month (COP21 – the 21st Conference of Parties) Stop Climate Chaos Cymru is joining in the demonstrations taking place across the world with a mass cycle through Cardiff followed by a rally in the Bay.
Demonstrations in Paris have been cancelled following the recent tragic events, making it more important than ever that we add our voices to the cause. Scotland and England are showing their support with marches in Edinburgh on the 28th and in London on the 29th, with the conference beginning in Paris on the following day. Wales Climate Action Day: Pedal for the Planet will show the world that Wales is stepping forward to highlight the need for global responsibility, and to demand that world leaders agree on a #FairClimateDeal.
This will be a family event, and the organisers are encouraging everyone to enter into the spirit of the occasion by coming in fancy dress, making their own banners, and bringing whistles. Beginning in Callaghan Square at 1.30pm, participants will cycle down Bute Street to the Senedd, where the rally will include speakers and entertainments. If you don’t wish to cycle, do come along to the Senedd for 2pm to welcome the cyclists as they arrive.
If you’re up for volunteering, the event is supported by Sustrans Cymru, who are looking for marshals to help out on the day. No experience is necessary, as full training will be provided. Interested parties should contact Tim John at Sustrans: [email protected] / 029 2065 0602
