Newport Centre
Fri 8 Dec
After a recent spell on the sidelines with an injury, caused by a falling stage prop, goth overlord Marilyn Manson will be back on top form when his Heaven Upside Down tour hits Newport Centre in December for a pre Christmas treat. After catching the eye of Trent Reznor in the early 90s, with their industrial metal horror show, Manson quickly became a role model for America’s disillusioned teens, with his nightmarish take on The Eurythmics classic Sweet Dreams and albums such as Antichrist Superstar and Mechanical Animals, both of which went platinum.
He ventured into the mainstream psyche in 2002 with a cover of Soft Cell’s Tainted Love, but more recently Manson could be seen on T.V with acclaimed performances in Salem and Sons Of Anarchy. But never one to stray far from controversy, the self-styled God Of Fuck has just released a very NSFW video for the track Kill4Me featuring his good pal Johnny Depp, giving us a glimpse of what to expect from the live show. His 10th album Heaven Upside Down is out now and, after a few lacklustre albums, is considered to be a return to form. It’s been a while since Manson graced a Welsh stage with his presence, so I dare say you can expect a raucous, sellout crowd to be chomping at the bit for their dark leader.
