Party In The Parc @ Coopers Field, Cardiff
Fri 12 Aug
Going from strength to strength, British festival favourites Years & Years are bringing their one-of-a-kind electropop sounds to the capital as part of Party In The Parc. This is the first time Cardiff has hosted such an event, which is being organised by the people behind Pride Cymru .
Made up of frontman and keyboard player Olly Alexander, bass guitarist Mikey Goldsworthy, and keyboardist Emre Türkmen, Years & Years are a British electronica trio who have more than put their stamp on the UK music charts in recent years, and this event will be a great excuse to hear their hit single King and a host of others from their chart-topping album {Communion} in a hopefully baking summers day in Coopers Field.

Lead vocalist Olly Alexander is slowly becoming an important voice of a generation, most recently via his inspiring LBGT-themed speech at Glastonbury; the accompanying video for their new single, Worship, sees him once again make a bold and powerful statement about sexuality. Something I’m sure will be a welcoming message to the capacity crowd at the brand new event.
Lu Thomas, Party In The Parc co-founder and chair of the Pride Cymru committee, says: “We’re excited to be bringing this amazing band to our vibrant capital city which marks a whole weekend of music and celebration.
“All profits from ticket sales will go towards funding Pride, which has become a huge showcase event for the LGBT+ community in Wales and the South West, so it’s essential we keep this event sustainable for the future.
“Party in the Parc will hopefully raise vital funds towards this while giving people a great night out this summer.”
Additionally, a whole host of homegrown British acts are set to join the bill as support. Electronic duo Maribou State, singer-songwriter Izzy Bizu, cool five-piece band Nimmo and Jax Jones will also be performing and adding to the line-up.
Tickets: £29.95-£50. Info: 029 2087 2087
