THE CHISEL
What A Fucking Nightmare (Pure Noise)
The world of 2024 really is in prime position for bands like The Chisel. With social injustice, class division and corrupt authority figures very much the order of the day, the street rock’n’roll/Oi! scene has seen a slew of bands recently all fighting the good fight. Summing up the working man’s feelings, What A Fucking Nightmare sees The Chisel in explosive form as they spit out anthem after anthem, drawing inspiration from bands like The Business and Sham 69 with an added dose of pub rock swagger.
It’s an album that absolutely does not let up: No Gimmicks, Evil By Evil and Vengeance For Me come and go quickly, but not without stamping themselves on your brain first – and then they follow up with stompers like Tomorrow and What Do You Mean. If punk really is about the music and the message, then nobody is doing it better than The Chisel right now.
