Newport Colour Clash
Tredegar Park, Newport
Sat 14 July
Now iN its third year, Newport Colour Clash is returning this July with an astonishing line up that shatters previous years. Come Sat 14 July, the tranquil space of Tredegar Park will be the canvas for chaotic colour for one day: spread across the Main Stage and Rewind Arena, the lineup boasts artists who are pioneers of their genres from past to present. From house, grime to bassline; the roster encompasses festival favourites at just the fraction of the price.
Heading the bill is drum’n’bass veteran Sub Focus, whose production and DJ sets have combined in the last decade to make for one of the finest experiences available in the genre. Bringing carnival flare accompanied with underground anthems, meanwhile, is Lobster Boy creator Redlight. With a highly anticipated studio album on the horizon, the set will be a mix of favela funk and old-school classics that will bring the best of the underground to the main stage.
Making waves both in the UK and internationally, bassline frontrunner Skepsis will be making his Newport debut. His live sets are swiftly becoming notorious for fierce arrangements with the injection of collaborations from the likes of P Money and FineArt. Nineties and noughties nostalgia will also be in abundance with the appearance of Fatman Scoop and Dappy, formerly of N-Dubz. The day also sees sets from the afrobeat duo Lotto Boyzz, Ramz, Darren Styles, Ian Van Dahl and Kelly Llorena; for the jungle heads, festival staple and undeniable crowdpleaser General Levy will also be taking to the mic.
Last, but by no means least, the recent special announcement for the day is none other but The Godfather himself. Whether you love him for his timeless summer anthems or being a soul force in the birth of grime, Wiley performing in Newport is an opportunity you can’t afford to miss.
