JONAS BROTHERS
The Album (Republic)
The New Jersey-born Jonas Brothers’ sixth studio album – simply called The Album – is a celebration of the trio’s lives and where they are currently as husbands and fathers, with a heavy 70s influence embracing a refreshing new sound for the brothers and exuding maturity across 12 tracks.
Opener Miracle’s funky, Bee Gees-inspired style sets the tone for the rest of The Album; though Montana Sky recalls The Eagles, it still has an unmistakable Jonas Brothers vibe. Lead singles Wings and Waffle House are staple tracks, and party song Celebrate! is a standout, full of catchy melodies and 70s-style trumpets: here, the Frankie Valli and Earth, Wind & Fire inspiration can certainly be heard.
With Joe, Kevin and Nick Jonas all fathers to girls, Little Bird is a bittersweet track about daughters growing up and flying the nest. And Walls rounds off the record in the best way possible: a lavish Oasis-like rock ballad, its impeccable production paired with Joe’s sensational vocal and the inclusion of the gospel choir is goosebump-worthy, and has the potential to become a fan favourite.
