THE GREAT VINYL VAULT

Wax Format & Journey @ The Vaults, Cardiff Bay

Sat 26 Jan

Cardiff trance people Journey pride themselves on being unerring when it comes to the purity of spirit behind their beloved community: “Journey is all about that one thing. That feeling.” You’ll often hear trance people talk about that ‘feeling’, usually among other words like ‘euphoria’, but even if the genre somewhat passed you by as far as dance music goes, the devotedness of the fans to the ‘feeling’ cause is beyond admirable.

With the warm crackle of the good old days firmly on their minds this winter, Cardiffians Journey and vinyl-only trance people Wax Format combine their efforts into one Cardiff vinyl-only trance day-in, come late January. In a day rave spanning 2-11pm, these two old-school types unravel a line-up of choice acts in a blistering effort to warm up the house with the hyperactive synth beats whizzing across two of the Vaults’ gritty underground chambers.

Doggedly spitting in the face of anything that doesn’t warp by a radiator are the acts: a healthy mix from around Europe, the UK and Wales, including Frankfurt veterans Scot Project, Signum from Amsterdam, Sam Mitcham from Manchester and Will Rees from Swansea, among others. If you get that ‘feeling’ too, you’re probably already going to this.

Tickets: £21.50. Info: www.vaultspresents.com (JM)
