Other festivals on this week include Pembrokeshire’s Unearthed In A Field Festival (Fri 19-21 Jun, 5pm, tickets: £25/£50. Promising an spiritual and musical experience, the festival offers a wide variety of British musicians (including Welsh Music Prize winner Georgia Ruth) as well as workshops like yoga and tai chi.
There will be more live music in the form of the soulful Paolo Nutini (Singleton Park, Swansea, Sat 20 Jun, 5pm. Tickets: £46.75). The award-winning singer will be promoting and performing his third album Caustic Love, and supported by the folk/soul singer Lianne La Havas.
If you prefer your festival to be all about the good beer, then you’ll want to be at The Lansdownes Beer Festival (Fri 19 Jun, 9pm, free admission). The festival offers real ale in excess, as well as live music: the perfect summer combination.
Indoors George Brant’s anti-war play, Grounded (Swansea Grand Theatre, Tue 16-Wed 17 June, 7.45pm. Tickets: £10.50/£8.50 conc) comes to Swansea. The gripping, multi-award-winning play is perfect for anybody looking for a thought-provoking story following a woman whose career as a fighter pilot changes from a life in the sky to sitting stationary in windowless caravan driving military drones.
If you’re looking for an evening of laughs, then why not check out Rob Delaney at the Glee Club (Glee Club, Cardiff Bay, Thurs 18, 6.45pm. Tickets £20). Having just written and starred in Channel 4’s comedy Catastrophe, the social media sensation can be sure to entertain.
Current ‘Maker in Focus’, Welsh award-winning fashion and print designer, Katie Darlington (Tue 16-Sun 02 Aug, 11am-5pm, free admission) exhibits her latest work, sporting innovative pattern and print design, at Swansea’s Mission Gallery.
If gaming is your favourite past-time, then the Wales Game Development Show (City Hall, Cardiff, Fri 19 Jun. Tickets: £10) is a must-see this week. Set up by a group of professionals within the industry, the show consists of a variety of game exhibitors, with workshops, master classes and guest speakers too.
Feeling sporty? Why not check out the adrenaline pumping Extreme Sailing Series (Cardiff Bay, Fri 19-Sun 21 Jun, from 2pm. Admission: free) heading to Cardiff as part of the global tour? The series offers waterfront races throughout the day, with on land entertainment, live music, and various food stalls.
For the record lovers, Gwidhw’s Crafty Record Fayre (Gwidihw, Cardiff, Sun 21 Jun, from 1pm. Admission: £2) is bound to be a hit. Offering an abundance of record stalls, independent artists, crafters and clothing, the Fayre is a heavenly mix of music and art that is sure to end your week in style.
