NOFIT STATE’S FOUR ELMS | NEWS
NoFit State Circus will very soon have a new rehearsal space as the £1.3m renovation of Four Elms in Adamsdown. Originally part of Trinity Methodist Church, Four Elms is to become the spiritual home of the circus which prides itself on innovation and creativity in the industry. The performers will be trapezing into the building -literally, they’ve installed the rigging in the main hall – when it opens in the New Year. Four Elms will be the first new arts building in Cardiff since the Wales Millennium Centre was completed. It will also have the honour of being Wales’ first space dedicated to circus skills training.
Combining live music, engaging set design and film techniques with more traditional circus acts, NoFit State are a contemporary circus. NoFit shows aim to be all of radical, accessible and sophisticated, displaying a variety of performing arts and physical disciplines. In February, NoFit State will be headlining the Perth International Arts Festival and afterwards journeying on an international tour with their show, BIANCO.
With these new premises, the NoFit State Circus will be going back to its roots, having sprouted out of the Splott and Adamsdown communities. NoFit State expects to be able to offer further diverse opportunities and projects, for all ages, in their community programme, with the additional space now available.
Executive Director of NoFit State, Alison Woods, said: “We would like to thank everyone who has supported this project and helped to make it happen. Four Elms will be an extraordinary new chapter in the life of NoFit State and Cardiff and we cannot wait for the doors to open in the New Year”.
