Singer-songwriter Billie Marten was born Isabella Sophie Tweddle in 1999, and has already released her debut album to critical acclaim while still in her teens. She’s not even that new in the game – first coming to prominence at the age of 12 when a video on YouTube of her singing attracted thousands of views. The subsequent covers she uploaded were enough to gain the Yorkshire girl a large fanbase across the UK; she released her first EP in 2014, aged 15, and has since been nominated for the BBC Sound Of 2016 award.
Debut album Writing Of Blues And Yellows came out last month on the Chess Club label; some of its highlights include Ribbon, As Long As and Lionhearted. What else? Oh, she’s also reputedly obsessed with alpacas, pledging her intention to buy one to an interviewer.
Billie plays Cardiff’s Buffalo venue on Fri 28 Oct and if you fancy going along, Buzz is giving away entry for you and one friend, plus a copy of Writing Of Blues And Yellows on vinyl. To win, go to our Facebook page here, and share the Billie Marten post.
