WALES INTERNATIONAL YOUNG ARTIST AWARD | NEWS
Do you love art? Between the ages of 17 and 25? Live or born in Wales? Want the opportunity to win a massive £500? Then step right up.
The British Council Wales’s competition, the Wales International Young Artist Award, is back for another year and is as fantastic an opportunity as ever. Entrants can express their creativity in a number of disciplines including painting, sculpture, photography, graphic design, printmaking, drawing and film for the chance to win the grand prize.
The theme that artists must follow this year is, in centenary of his birth, Dylan Thomas. Whether your piece is an interpretation of, inspired by or even a reflection of the great man, you are urged to show off your skills in this invaluable opportunity.
Not only does the winner snap up the tasty prize money, but they also get the chance to have their winning entry exhibited throughout the British Council’s offices in over 100 countries. Entrants shortlisted from each category will also receive a collective exhibition in Cardiff this November at which the winner will be chosen.
Last year’s winner, Andrew Morris, won with What’s Left Behind?, a collection of photographs taken in the homes of people who have passed away and depicts the transitory place between occupied and vacant.
