From watching naked people on telly to Tudor fangirling to producing her own Welsh gin, Cygnet 22, there’s much more to Katherine Jenkins than singing. How do we know? We made her answer our hard-hitting Things That Made Me Q&A…
What’s the most recent film you’ve watched that made you cry?
I can’t believe I am saying this but Barbie. I watched it first alone to see if it was suitable for my eight-year-old daughter (I asked on social media but got mixed responses). When Barbie arrives in Santa Monica, leaving a female-led world, she experiences being objectified for the first time. Seeing it like that was so powerful and SO sad that it made me shed a tear.
Which celebrity would you be too nervous to meet (alive or dead)?
Henry VIII – it’s not good to be named Katherine around him!
What’s the last thing you wrote in your notes app (or wherever you keep notes to yourself)?
I’m a list maker so the notes app gets a lot of action on my phone. Last-minute Christmas shopping, reminders for gifts I haven’t yet bought/sent, and food to add to my Waitrose online order.
Which TV show is your guiltiest pleasure?
My husband and I love Gogglebox. Naked Attraction shocks him: being American he cannot believe they show things like that on TV here.
What’s the last meal you’d request on the final night of I’m A Celebrity?
A massive veggie (I don’t eat meat) roast dinner with all the trimmings like roast potatoes, stuffing and Yorkshire puds – plus a Cygnet 22 gin on the rocks.

What song would you play to an alien who’d never heard human music before?
The Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven. I would love to see if they were moved by it. Surely they would be!
What was the last outfit you wore that made you feel great?
Suzanne Neville makes a lot of my stage gowns and she recently made three for my BBC Christmas special Christmas With Katherine Jenkins. They are bespoke so they fit like a glove and always make you feel like a million dollars.
If you could go back in time, which decade would you choose and why?
I would go to the Tudor period. I am obsessed with Anne Boleyn and we are the first people to get married inside Hampton Court Palace when they got their licence in 2014.
What’s your pettiest pet peeve?
Often on my travels, people will say “from Wales, in England!” I am very quick to give them a geography lesson!
What’s your favourite and least favourite recurring dream?
My least favourite is that I am onstage, singing music in a foreign language (which is normal) but I haven’t learned the song. I am getting hot just thinking about it now! Stress! My favourite is when I talk with my dad who died when I was 15. I love those dreams.
