10 Feet Tall may not be somewhere you typically think of as a place to dine. For me, it has always been somewhere I’ve intended to venture for a bite to eat, but foolishly never got round to. On this occasion, I discovered exactly what I had been missing.
10 Feet Tall’s intriguing menu is broken down into meat, fish, vegetable, and salad options. With good variety, the menu takes in a range of culinary influences. Main courses included a north African hot pot, spiced lamb shanks with black olives, and mussels with pimenton tomato sauce.
Before we could even get to the mains, we sampled three delectable tapas options: smoked haddock fishcakes, asparagus wrapped in serrano ham and marinated chicken in a sherry and onion sauce. Nicely cooked and packed with flavour, the tapas proved to be an excellent indication of the quality we could expect in the rest of the meal. Plumping for the steak and chorizo burger for the main course I was impressed by its tenderness, size and accompanying sauces. My dining partner opted for a medium-rare 8oz sirloin steak which was cooked to perfection with delicious chunky chips and a spicy tomato romesco sauce. This turned out to be a fantastic choice due to its moist and succulent flavour. “I don’t want it to end” being the concluding comment when it came down to the final bite.
10 Feet Tall certainly doesn’t deserve to be overlooked as a place to eat; whether for lunch or dinner. Its concise and tempting menu is beautifully executed and reasonably priced – The tapas taster for £7.95, or the two meals for £10 on the lunch menu, are both excellent deals. GARETH LUDKIN
