Silly overblown thriller borrowing heavily from Taken et al. with Jamie Foxx doing all the bone breaking as an apparently corrupt Nevada cop being investigated by Michelle Monaghan’s Internal Affairs officer. Foxx is partnered with a dirty cop but isn’t dirty himself obvs, he is in fact, ‘deep undercover’. Events take a turn for the worst after a drugs bust and Foxx’s son gets ‘taken’ in revenge by nasty crime boss Scoot McNairy. Foxx then goes after the baddies who took his son and all manner of hoary cliches rear their heads. There are the occasional action set pieces to liven up matters to the beat of a relentless soundtrack but this police corruption thriller is obvious, free from tension and an attempt by Foxx to break into the Keanu Reeves/Liam Neeson generic hardman niche. Sleepless is not one to lose any sleep over missing.
