JACK WHITEHALL | LIVE REVIEW
St David’s Hall, Wed 15 Jan
It’s not every day you get to see the King of Comedy on stage dressed as a lion, so it was a surprise to see the Comedy Award winner of the last two years in a compromising state with his costume on back to front after getting dressed in the dark.
Warming the crowd up nicely was fellow Fresh Meat actor Ben McGregor. With his local knowledge the Welsh actor delighted the audience, and laid the foundation for the main act.
Cue Jack Whitehall; honing his material before embarking on his UK tour, he had the audience in stiches, particularly with his unrehearsed attempts at different accents including a ‘Jamaican’ (sounded more like Geordie).
He’s become a household name appearing on various television programmes but sharing stories about his family and anecdotes about the embarrassing difficulties his “friends” would get into he showed no airs and graces – despite his undoubted posh upbringing.
So why a lion costume you ask? Without revealing too much for those of you lucky enough to have tickets to the Jack Whitehall Gets Around tour in March you are definitely in for a treat. Just make sure you’ve got a pack of tissues handy because he’ll have you crying with laughter.
