MATT JAM LAMONT PRESENTS: HISTORY OF GARAGE
Tramshed, Cardiff
Sat 22 Sept
All eager to make the most of their shiny new club license, Tramshed have decided to open celebrations with a bang and brought Matt Jam Lamont around for the evening, along with a cast of old skool garage and bass vets for a nostalgia sesh that lasts past bed-time and straight through til 3am.
Better known as part of Tuff Jam back in the 90s, and a mainstay resident of the South London scene, Lamont has been a welcome visitor to clubs worldwide and in print on vinyl labels for some 25 years. Instrumental on several gold-selling records, and with the perfect moniker for a regular player of radio spots, Lamont is more than qualified to fill us in with a crash course in the genre. With straight-up old-school sets from the likes of Zed Bias, Jamie Duggan, Oxide & Neutrino, Lamont himself and more, this will be one of the prifddinas’ biggest garage nights in a long time, and a real match made in heaven with Tramshed.
Already one of Cardiff’s bigger, more diverse and attractive gig venues, the Taff-side club hopes to hit decks as a major player in the city’s deeper nightlife in the coming months as a regular haunt for music and dance-lovers alike (who would do well to watch this space) and may finally give us some teeth to bite Bristol back with.
Tickets: £11-£15. Info: 039 2023 5555 / www.tramshedcardiff.com (JM)
