The Bristol Sounds concert series – open-air live music against the backdrop of Bristol’s historic harbourside – returns this June for another year of electrifying performances. Here are five artists we recommend checking out if you’re undecided on who to see.
MIKA (Wed 21 June)
Singer/songwriter Mika, born Michael Holbrook Penniman, Jr., is a chart-topping artist capable of vibrant melodies thanks to his multi-octave, classically trained voice. Life In Cartoon Motion, Mika’s debut album sold over 5.6 million copies worldwide and helped Mika win a Brit Award, a Best British Breakthrough act award and a Grammy Award nomination.

There appears to be no bounds to the talents of London-based musician Jacob Collier. A multi-instrumentalist, singer, arranger, composer and producer, Collier has secured two Grammy awards for his debut album In My Room, a release that was entirely self-recorded, arranged, performed and produced in his home. Latest release Djesse Vol. 3 featured the likes of Daniel Caesar, Kimbra, Ty Dolla Sign and Mahalia, its sound built from the foundations of jazz with elements of other genres.

Their captivating sound produced a string of hit singles, including Come Home, Sit Down, She’s A Star, and Laid.
