ATGYFODI | ART PREVIEW
Local musical composer John Rea has been delving into the St Fagans’ archives to create an illuminating and immersive art project: Atgyfodi.
Rea’s pieces intertwines archived voice recordings and photographs with new musical compositions, and are to be played in all eight of St Fagans’ historic buildings. Meaning ‘resurrect’ in welsh Atgyfodi, which uses extracts from folk songs and personal stories, has been in the works for two years and aims to bring the history of the buildings to life.
The performance, which is open to the public for just a single night on Mon 28 Oct, will then be preceded by the screening of a short film also created by Rea at the Oakdale Workmen’s Institute.
