In an age where our past dreamings of artificial intelligence have become a reality, it is no surprise how quickly entrepreneurs are utilising it as part of their business ventures. This is the case for ApoteoSurprise, a marriage proposal company with its heart set on providing an array of extravagancies in lieu of merely popping the proverbial question. Naturally, it’s also based in the man on the street’s go-to ‘romantic city’, Paris.
Despite its home base, though, ApoteoSurprise had its head in the clouds while brainstorming destinations for its newest restaurant experience, due to start in 2025. Forget about Venice and the Amalfi Coast, you (or rather, anyone with €750,000 in the bank) are heading to space. The select few for whom the reality of this gambit – being in a pressurised space capsule lifted by a helium-inflated stratospheric balloon – doesn’t fill you with nailbiting dread can expect to enjoy an earth-shatteringly fine Michelin-starred meal. Even then, I advise not thinking of the 35-kilometre altitude at this point for optimal fine dining.
To help ease this vertigo-inducing experience, you can also expect to be accompanied by a crew member taken right out of a sci-fi film – an AI-enhanced robot named StellarEmbrace. StellarEmbrace offers a personal and unique touch to the overall experience and can supposedly adapt to the bride and groom’s wants and needs.
Despite its heartfelt purpose and the exciting technological advances needed for such a venture, the setting can’t help but feel reminiscent of the hopeful beginnings of a Black Mirror episode. Hopefully, this throuple of business, love, and technology are recipients of a happy ever after, but God forbid it ends in divorce.
