Cigar, Pipe & Rum Tasting Night
8pm Tuesday 23rd August 2011
Gwdihw is excited to present its very first, and Cardiff’s only Cigar, Pipe & Rum tasting event. They have teamed up with ‘The Bear’ tobacconist and ‘Reserve Brands’ to bring you the first in their new series of tasting events. Cuba Calling is on Tuesday 23 August from 8pm.
A Cuban roller is flying over from Havana to hand roll cigars live on stage. This dying skill is described as an art form and something that shouldn’t be missed. Along side this spectacle,  Ron Zacapa and other rums will be available for you to consume.
Gwdihw resident DJs will be providing your ears with some Latin style vibes to accompany the live percussion on stage and you might even see a conga…This informal tasting event will allow you and your friends the opportunity to sample the finest cigars and rums in the comfort of the garden and marquee.
From complete amateur to connoisseur, Cuba Calling will be able to cater for your needs. The price of your ticket will reflect the price of your cigar and experience. Those seasoned chuffers will probably want something a little stronger and more expensive; others may prefer a cigarillo to accompany their rum. If smoking doesn’t float your boat, just try the rum.
For those fellow pipe smokers you will have the option of enjoying a range of tobaccos. If you don’t have a pipe, don’t worry, pipes can be provided with tobacco for just £10 and that includes the pipe for you to keep as a memento.
The Bear will be providing the Cigars and Tobacco at below the RRP and will be kindly supplying all relevant tasting notes bespoke to your choice. Information on the cigars available will be posted on the Gwdihw website allowing you the opportunity to choose before the event. Included in your pack will be a cigar cutter and cigar matches. Tuition will also be given on the correct way to light, smoke and extinguish your cigar. You will even be taught a little ‘cigar etiquette’!
Reserve Brands will provide a rum flight that will compliment your choice of cigar, there will also be other rums available to sample on the night for a small charge. Cuban cocktails will also be available to purchase.
We’ve got two VIP tickets up for grabs as well as two hand-rolled cigars worth £30 each. Simply answer the following question and send your answer as well as Twitter username (if you have one) to [email protected]
