You may think you don’t know Ludovico Einaudi, the celebrated Italian pianist and world-renowned composer, but you’ve definitely heard his work in films such as Black Swan, I’m Still Here, and The Untouchables, and TV shows such as Doctor Zhivago, Derek, and Acquario. Either way, this Grolla d’oro winner has made his way to the top, and is now scheduled to perform in Wales this November.
A man whose songs have captured the hearts of many, Einaudi was born in Turin, Italy, a place where beautiful music is everywhere, unceasingly drawing locals to melodies from a young age. Surrounded by this constant flow of musical beauty, he started composing his own work as a teenager on a folk guitar. From there, he took an orchestration class and found his niche.
Einaudi’s music is built on a foundation of calm, ambient notes, drawing on simplistic touches with brooding lowlights. He believes that he has a very open way of thinking about music, which he was taught by Luciano Berio – another famed composer, often regarded as a pioneer in electronic music. Perhaps because of his style and attitude, he got to collaborate with musicians such as Armenian Djican Gasparian and Malian Ballake Sissoko – talented, inspiring people who evidently helped shape the music that Einaudi is now so well known for.
This high-demand composer-musician, who is also touring across Germany, Australia, Czech Republic, Canada, and NYC, will be coming to Wales, to leave his audiences speechless with his unforgettable, breathtaking performance. Perfect for both fans of the great Italian maestro and people who just want to hear some of the most beautiful music to be created in the 21st century. Whatever the occasion, it’s sure to bring smiles all round – with the occasional tear.
