The British Dance Edition 2016 hits Wales tomorrow, bringing a diverse programme of quality British dance to Cardiff and Newport. It’s promising to be one of the most prestigious UK dance events of the year, inspiring new partnerships as it’s held across four venues – the Wales Millennium Centre, Dance House and Chapter in Cardiff, and yhe Riverfront in Newport, allowing audiences to experience some of the most exciting dance the UK has to offer.
The event allows the city to make history and will be the first time the British Dance Edition has come to Wales since its launch in 1998.
With the aim of creating a new dynamic, the event will consist of performance slots by 36 leading and upcoming UK dance artists and companies. It’ll offer networking opportunities, trade fairs, pitching sessions and social events across the four key venues, and will be an opportunity to showcase some of the best Welsh venues and dance artists. The four-day long programme focuses on both large and small scale contemporary dance with its aim to stay an industry focused platform, for promoters and presenters from the UK, and across the globe.
Although the British Dance Edition is targeted primarily towards promoters and producers of dance, tickets are open to the general public for a select number of the performances. The competition is a unique opportunity to see the dance groups get ready to tour the UK and the world.
Leading dance companies such as MotionHouse, Hofesh Shechter and Ockham’s Razor will be performing, alongside some of the best Welsh dancers and groups such as Eddie Ladd and National Dance Company Wales .
