Chapter Arts Centre, Cardiff

Please, no more all-male line ups; no more songs about sexual coercion, violence and rape; songs that are sexist, that objectify. All too common are these themes in pop music today. From Now On are answering these prayers and offering resistance: they have an incredible track record of curating future-thinking lineups, and their annual festival at Chapter has introduced some of the best left field artists around to our city. Here, they bring together a day of incredible artists with a focus on feminism, gender and identity.
Lone Taxidermist brings wonky electropop, minimalist beats, exciting wordplay and the best theatrics and stage outfits you’ve seen in a loooong while. Other highlights include feminist dance-punk band Charistmatic Megafauna, a full live AV set from producer Kayla Painter, Welsh-language producer Accu, folkish trio Adwaith and the bearded belly dancing of Shrouk El Attar’s Dancing Queer.
The event will also host the first ever WITCiH Salon (Women In Technology Creative Industries Hub) in Wales, showcasing female composers, producers and performers. Its co-founder Bishi will be performing live, and her sitar shredding will leave you agog. Discussion and participation will also feature: More Baby In My Monitor Please will focus on being a musician and a parent, and will hopefully demystify and normalise the role of artists and mothers in music.
The gig is female-focused and gender-inclusive, and all are welcome. The future starts here.
Tickets: £15. Info 029 2033 400 (GT)
