The Glee Club, Cardiff Bay

Back on tour to promote Carry On, his third solo album, Willy Mason is set to offer Cardiff another taste of his lyrical talent at the Glee Club in Cardiff Bay on Tues 5 Mar.
From a young age, Mason has been involved in music, taking part in several local bands whilst at Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School. From that point on Mason gradually snuck his name into the music industry. Since his debut album, Mason has collaborated on the Chemical Brothers track Battle Scars, and on Lianne La Havas’ track No Room For Doubt. Throughout his career, Mason has built a loyal following. His debut album, Where Humans Eat, was released in 2005 and recorded mostly live, each song taking no longer than three takes to complete. Now eight years on, his new album shows the development of the singer and his music with the infusions of dub and classic reggae alongside his distinctive gravelly voice.
Mason has joined fellow folk artist Ben Howard in building a strong UK following, not that he really needs much more of a loyal fan-base in the UK, and so far, Mason has been rumoured to be playing three festivals this summer, including the Isle Of Wight Festival, Deershed Festival and the Cambridge Folk Festival. Mason’s 2013 current tour sees The Mariner’s Children & Siobhan Wilson in support and this exciting opportunity to see the talented songwriter at the Glee Club is sure to be one of the more intimate in the near future. Tickets: £12.30. Info: www.glee.co.uk/cardiff
