This February, two classic Welsh films, Valley Of Song and Last Days Of Dolwyn, are to be released on DVD for the very first time in the UK. The release of these classics will be accompanied by a series of special screenings.
Valley Of Song tells the story of an unlucky small-town boy in the 1950s who returns to the quiet Welsh valleys to take on the role of a choirmaster after spending five years in London. A story of love, rivalry and humour, the film features some of British cinema’s most cherished performers in the form of Mervyn Johns and Clifford Evans. Screenings of Valley Of Song will be held from Sun 10-Tue 12 Feb at Chapter Arts Centre, Cardiff.
Last Days Of Dolwyn, set in the pleasant Welsh village of Dolwyn, stars the renowned Richard Burton in a tragic tale of passion, loss and community. When a ruthless water company plans to flood the neighbourhood of Dolwyn in order to build a dam, it threatens the whole village. Last Days Of Dolwyn is to be screened on Sun 3-Tues 5 Feb at Chapter whilst the DVDs are set to be released on Mon 18 Feb.
