The debut production of ALRIGHT Theatre, Battle Scars: A New Musical, was extremely well received in its original run by Cardiff University’s Act One Drama Society last March, tackling the issue of mental health in an original way. After winning a range of awards and critical acclaim it returns to the Mike Barlow Theatre from Thu 12 Nov-Sat 14 Nov. The story follows Lily Prewitt, a teenager who has been sectioned into a mental health unit following the disappearance of her mother, where she builds relationships with fellow inpatients.
Exploring subjects that are often shied away from, like depression, self-harm and anorexia, this brutally honest musical helps to contribute to a much needed debate on the issue of mental health.
Featuring a pop rock score and a well written script, this collaboration of young talent is a promising event in Cardiff’s underground theatre scene.
