STREET FOOD CINEMA: DRIVE-IN | PREVIEW

Splott Market, Cardiff

Fri 7-Sun 16 Aug

What we all need now is some uplifting nostalgia to see us through these dark times, and that’s exactly what Street Food Cinema will be serving up in Cardiff’s Splott Market in the first half of August.

Starting this Thursday, you can enjoy a good old-fashioned drive-in cinema experience, with some great film classics, on a big cinema screen right in the middle of the market grounds. With up to five people per vehicle permitted (apologies, stretch limo owners), films include everything from Disney classics like The Lion King through to Welsh favourites like Human Traffic and Twin Town – which will kick the whole thing off on the opening night.

That’s not all. This homegrown event, which only uses Welsh production suppliers, street food traders, ice-cream producers and popcorn makers, will even deliver your food ‘on wheels’ with an in-car usher service from waiting staff on roller skates. Wheely great stuff, right? Vendors include Frank’s Hotdogs, Dirty Bird Fried Chicken [pictured] and Joe’s Ice Cream – starters, mains and dessert all sorted.

If you’re concerned about the weather and, more importantly, health and safety – worry not! The cinema is covered and the event is adopting a Covid-compliant clearing regime, with PPE provided to all staff. Organisers politely ask that audiences stay in their cars, only leaving their vehicles for the socially distanced loos.

For more information and to buy your tickets go to www.streetfoodcinema.co.uk or click on the direct booking link here.
