Parish Hall Field & Woodland, Rudry
Fri 13 + Sat 14 July
For the third year now, Rudry Music Festival will light up this small town near Caerphilly with two days of music and events. Aimed at people of all ages, the musicians on this year’s bill hail from across the UK. Friday will be headlined by the True Strays, whose blues rhythms are pepped up by a grunge and R&B twist, while Nick Harper will charm the audience with his energetic acoustic originals and covers.
On Saturday the stage will come alive with The Eskies’ gypsy-folk melodies, Echo Town – a duo who have been accruing an audience with stylistic shifts from rock to reggae, demonstrating their free experimental spirit in the process – and, finally, Orla Gartland, who began as a YouTube cover artist and who is most known for 2013 single Roots that got some creditable chart action back in 2013.
Sweet Baboo, Ivan Moult and Private World are among the noteworthy names from south Wales, ensuring Rudry Music Festival’s stage will be perpetually abuzz. There will be plenty of food and drink stalls for a nutritious break from dancing, as well as a tent-pitching area for a night’s rest before immersing in the festival for the second day.
Tickets: £42 both days/£32 Sat 14 only/£21 youth both days/£16 Sat 14 only/free under-13s. Info: www.rudrymusicfestival.org (PZ)
