To celebrate the triumphant re-opening of Sherman Cymru, the Cardiff-based theatre is displaying over 160 plays around the new building – covering everything from the foyer walls to the backs of toilet doors.
To commemorate the theatre’s rebirth, the company wanted to christen the new building with words from their participants. Through launching Play On A Page, Sherman Cymru challenged people of all ages and backgrounds to write a play or story on one side of A4. Associate director Roisin McBrinn said, “We had a fantastic response to a Play On A Page. There were over 160 submissions which are now on display on the walls, loos, doors and bars of the new Sherman Cymru – we are displaying everyone’s submission.
She added: “We’ve had entries in Welsh and English, scripts and short stories, fiction and non-fiction stories. We’ve even had drawings and illustrations from children as young as four.”
If you fancy a little light reading, grab yourself a coffee and a sandwich, or come along to an evening performance and read some of these wonderful stories. The Plays On A Page are displayed at Sherman Cymru, Senghennydd Road, Cardiff, until Sat 31 Mar. Sherman Cymru is open from 10am-11pm Monday-Saturday.
