Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff Bay
Wed 3 – Sun 21 Aug
Four months into their UK tour, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang will be soaring into the Wales Millennium Centre to spread oodles of joy and whimsy to the people of Cardiff.
Based on the 1968 film, the show tells the story of barmy, but loveable, inventor Caractatus Potts and his children as they discover an old but magical car. Joined by beautiful, sharp-witted Truly Scrumptious they travel to the fictional land of Vulgaria to save their Grandpa.
Whether under attack from pirates, imprisoned by the notorious Child Catcher or outwitting the foolish Baron and Baroness Bomburst, the intrepid adventurers and their faithful flying car foil absurd plans and wreak havoc. Full of iconic songs including Toot Sweet and My Old Bamboo, this firm family favourite oozes the right amount of ridiculous with inspiring dance numbers and good old fashioned fun.
Since its box office record smashing West End debut in 2002, musical theatre buffs and fans of the film alike have revelled in the catchy songs and infectious feel-goodness. With an all-star cast including West End favourites Lee Mead and Carrie Hope Fletcher and familiar faces Shaun Williamson Eastenders and Claire Sweeney, an afternoon spent with your fine, four-fendered friend will not be a wasted one.
