CARDIFF WALKING FESTIVAL | EVENT PREVIEW
Sat 4-Sun 12 May
In an attempt to encourage more people to step out and enjoy a regular walk as part of the National Walking Month, the inaugural Cardiff Walking Festival is set to take place from Sat 4-Sun 12 May with a whole range of walks and activities planned for the whole family to enjoy.
In conjunction with Ramblers Cymru, who host the Big Welsh Walk from Sat 4-Mon 6 May, Outdoor Cardiff’s festival launch takes place on Sat 4. Starting from the Bute Park Education Centre at 10.30am, take part in a guided storytelling walk alongside a variety of other walks to suit all tastes, crafts for the kids, and a BBQ hosted by the Secret Garden Cafe.
Other walks encouraging general health and wellbeing throughout the festival include guided historical walks, a Tenovus Goodnight walk, buggy walks, Cardiff Ramblers walks, and much more besides. On Tues 7 May from 11am to 1.30pm, join in with the Cardiff Harbour Authority’s free Bay Explorer guided walk which includes bird watching and pond dipping at the Wetlands Reserve. For the full programme of walks planned throughout the week, consult the festival website.
