Dirs: Antony & Joe Russo (12A, 140 mins)
Hot on the claws of Black Panther’s massive success comes the biggest superhero film ever, boasting a massive cast from all of Marvel’s previous films. It’s hard to know how directors the Russo brothers will be able to give everyone from Spiderman to Thor to Iron Man, Dr Strange, Ant Man, Hulk and Black Widow (not to mention all of the Guardians of the Galaxy) enough screentime to satisfy the fanboys. Granted, the film will be split into two, with rumours persisting that this may be the last outing for some of our heroes. They are finally doing battle with cosmic villain Thanos, who is after the Infinity Stones, the McGuffin that’s been threaded through all the films from the Marvel stable. Josh Brolin lends his chin to the purple big baddie whose dastardly aims will destroy the universe as we know it. If all the storytelling balls can be kept in the air, this should prove a true summation of all things superheroic. The Russo brothers managed to juggle plenty in Captain America: Civil War – let’s hope they are equal to this task. Many Avengers Assemble! Keiron Self
