Buffalo, Cardiff
Friday 7 Dec
A night of house music and good intentions descends on Cardiff’s Buffalo Bar as we head into the Christmas period, with UK producer Harry Wolfman heading the bill of a fundraising club night organised by new events company Super Sandal Selects. With the two founders of SSS, Tom Carne and George Collins, on b2b support duties, the evening – subtitled Dancing For The MIND – is donating all profits to the titular mental health charity. Putting on a real talent in Wolfman as their headliner whilst endeavouring to raise awareness of mental health is a bold and impressive debut statement from newbies Carne and Collins.
Wolfman himself is on the up and up. Combining an infectious fusion of old disco samples and deep house cuts in his own productions has seen his records picked up by the likes of Karizma and Laurent Garnier. He’s also a Cirque Du Soul favourite, this time returning to Cardiff as a headliner having playing a packed out Y Plas last autumn on the Cirque bill.
A self-confessed “funk loving nerd”, Wolfman is no stranger to the UK circuit. Yet since breaking out in 2012 with a remix of a Ben Pearce track that went viral, there’s a palpable maturity resonating from his more recent productions, typified by his spiritual 2018 EP release 37 Degrees.
