As Wales Millennium Centre’s Blysh Festival draws to a close, the Mary Bijou Cabaret returns with their latest production, Hitch. Set in the impressive outdoor Speigeltent currently based outside the Wales Millennium Centre, the show is based on the life and works of famous director Alfred Hitchcock.
The show, especially created for the Blysh Festival, is dark, thrilling and aligned to the unique style of Hitchcock’s own films. Some of his most famous works include Psycho, The Birds and Rear Window, and during the show the five performers will recreate Hitchcock scenes in their own style of acrobatics, dance and circus performance.
Partly a tribute to the filmmaker’s work and talent, and partly a parody of his film, expect a few comedy moments from Hitch which will also delve into the dark corners of both the mind of Hitchcock, the themes of cabaret and, in keeping with the horror premise, the terrifying side of performance and acrobatics.
If previous Mary Bijou shows are anything to go by, there will be energetic acrobatic performance, themes that border on the bizarre and plenty of eyeliner to boot. The cast are encouraging everyone to come in fancy dress as their favourite Hitchcock character, and the production is sure to be an evening of fun, spectacle and surprise. Tickets: £12.
