This month, the nation’s favourite soothing voiced academic, Professor Brian Cox, author of Why Does E=mc2?, The Quantum Universe, and other great publications (950 to be exact), will be coming to Cardiff to blow the minds of the locals.
Famed for being both highly intelligent and controversial, Cox fuels debate and discussion wherever he goes. He has been known to devise ideas that leave people with outrage or admiration, but whatever the response, you can always be sure they’ll want more. His idea on the reason we haven’t met any UFOs is one of his most arguable ones – because, he says, all forms of intelligent life destroy themselves before they are able to meet other species. The controversy sparks that Cox starts show just a hint of what is to come at his talk. Delving into so called ‘high science’, Cox transports audiences through space and time, testing the limits of human knowledge. There’s also the chance to meet him in an interview hosted by comic Robin Ince.
Born in Oldham, the former keyboard player, is arguably best known for his work on television programmes like Wonders of the Universe. Inspired by the work of Carl Sagan when he was a child, Cox now works as an Advanced Fellow of particle physics in the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Manchester. Cox’s accessible charm is so strong that whether you’re a degree-clad scientist or just an interested novice, the show will have something to offer for all.
This highly anticipated performance will show Cox captivating the audience with his awe-inspiring and enthralling ideas, introducing you to new, vibrant concepts, answering the questions you’ve always wanted to know the answer to – and in turn, leaving the figurative jaws of the audience on the floor, with the minds blown into the furthest reaches of deep space.
