Trawsnewid / Transform
February 21 @ 17:00 - February 22 @ 23:00
£50.00With winter’s chill still looming and the summer season a few months off, none of us are rushing back to muddy campsites in search of music. In February, however, you can get your festival itch scratched with Aberystwyth’s most exciting celebration of the arts this year – no wellies required (unless that’s your thing, of course). Co-presented by Aberystwyth Arts Centre and Wrexham’s FOCUS Wales, Trawsnewid / Transform is a two-day indoor fest featuring some of Wales’ leading artists and an immersive blend of live music and cutting-edge visuals. Punters are promised a unique experience of audiovisual exploration, celebrating creativity, collaboration and the vibrant cultural landscape of Wales’ west coast. The festival will showcase an array of emerging talent, with Friday and Saturday headline performances from CVC and Fat Dog respectively. After releasing single The Lowrider last year and playing a December headline show in Cardiff University, pop-rock groovers CVC are anticipated to tease new music at Trawsnewid / Transform. Known for their eccentric live shows, Saturday headliners Fat Dog are an audible collision of punk’s raw energy with the rolling basslines of dance music. Releasing debut album Woof. in 2024, the London five-piece have proved themselves as a must-see act for lovers of experimental rock that packs a punch. Equally as exciting, you can expect performances from various generations of Welsh music prize nominees across the two days: Friday includes Islet, Kizzy Crawford and Super Furry Animals’ ‘fantasy parallel band’ Das Koolies, with Melin Melyn, Mace The Great and Afro Cluster on Saturday. Tickets: £50/£30 per day (£45/£25 per day NUS). words TERESA DELFINO
