The Other Room, Porter’s, Cardiff
Until Sat 14 Apr
Matthew Trevannion questions the integrity of love through his new play All But Gone, brought to life by The Other Room’s new artistic director Dan Jones. All But Gone centres around a teenager Kai and a pensioner, Owen; beyond this, the theatre have remained fairly tight-lipped regarding details of the plot, perhaps because it can only be fully understood through attending. The play, though, will have a strong focus on the representation of Welsh culture in the Valleys and combines elements of tradition with modern normalities.
When asked about the production, Jones stated that All But Gone is a play about love, loss and regret. He adds that there are instances of dark humour which very much represent the Valleys community he grew up in. The Other Room have worked to create a piece that is authentic and realistic, while being entertaining.
Of the cast, there is Wyn Bowen Harries, a Welsh actor who you may recognise from Ironclad or Coronation Street; starring opposite him are Nicola Reynolds, Elin Phillips, and Calum Hymers, all of whom have plentiful experience upon the boards. All But Gone explores the metaphysical concepts of everyday life through the medium of theatre and will challenge you to do the same.
