Fashionistas will be delighted to hear that Vivienne Westwood has announced that her first ever store in Cardiff will be opening this autumn.
Vivienne Westwood started designing clothes in 1971 when London was at the forefront of cultural trends. She is well known for her fiery ginger hair, styling the English punk rock band The Sex Pistols during the 70s and being awarded British Designer of the Year in 1990 then again in 1991. Westwood was appointed Dame Commander of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II in 2006.
Street style and youth culture is a major inspiration for her work and most of her collections are revolved around culture, politics and climate change. The 2,600 square foot store will be situated in St. David’s Centre in an area known as The Hayes; an excellent setting for her British Avant-Garde and iconic collections.
The store will signify the expanding British heritage of Vivienne Westwood with large theatrical windows, a stage full of classic Westwood mannequins and Vivienne’s iconic pink neon signature.
The Cardiff store will stock a full range of the Gold, Red and MAN labels as well as Vivienne Westwood’s collections Anglomania, Anglomania and Lee Jeans and Red Carpet evening wear dresses alongside a wide variety of accessories.
This exciting new store will open with an exclusive VIP launch party in autumn 2012 to introduce Vivienne Westwood to the city of Cardiff and the celebration will continue with an exclusive fashion show in October.
