Under Construction is a free festival organised, operated and performed almost entirely by young people, and it’s back for 2010. Taking place on Sat 14 August in Maindy Stadium, it’s packed full of some of the best home-grown talent Cardiff has to offer. There will be performances from The Lay-Lows, Athena and Kamikaze Veterans. Also, for the first time, Under Construction Festival will feature an acoustic stage, which will be graced by the likes of Cotton Wool Kids, Inconsiderate Parking and Jack Hadley & George Nichols. As well as showcasing all this fresh, new talent, the event is staffed almost entirely by young people, giving the youth of Cardiff the chance to try their hand at being stewards, stage managers or photographers in this unique event. It’s also completely carbon neutral, with a solar powered main stage, lighting and PA system. And, if that wasn’t enough, the stadium will be full of a bunch of free workshops on things like break dancing, drumming and Djing. Under Construction Festival promises to be a day of brilliant performances and workshops – and it’s all free!
