End 2021 with a banger: DJ TURNO headlines d’n’b nights in Swansea & Cardiff

December 2, 2021 Category: Clubs, Previews Region: South Wales, West Wales
Turno headlines The Attic, Swansea & The Vaults, Cardiff Bay
Turno

Even drum’n’bass – ironclad, rhino-arsed drum’n’bass – is in limited supply in Wales these days, although you’re still better off as a fan of the genre than most other things. For one, it’ll be ringing in the new year at Cardiff Bay’s sweat dungeon The Vaults; headliner Franko Moliterno, aka UK drum’n’bass DJ Turno, will be making his second Welsh appearance of the month, following a booking for Heft in Swansea alongside Amplify and MC Bassman.

RELATED: ‘Following her Tramshed gig, Sarah Bowdidge caught singer Georgia for a quick chat about (likely) her last Seeking Thrills tour.’

DJ Turno has cited the 00s as his favourite decade in the genre, and his sets and productions often bear this out: a sense of lairy abandon is had via huge, vulgar basslines and dizzyingly hard drums while avoiding outright stupidity. He’s also got a nice line in cheeky bootlegs and remixes, including Cardiff’s biggest ever dance single, 2 People by Jean Jacques Smoothie. Will it feature in his NYE set, where he plays alongside Hedex, AC13, Unglued and plenty more? Probably not, but fair play.

Heft @ The Attic, Swansea, Fri 3 Dec; Canopy @ The Vaults, Cardiff, Fri 31 Dec

Tickets: £10 (Swansea); £25 (Cardiff). Info: Swansea / Cardiff
